Valkyrie is a magnificent 60 foot hand-crafted vessel — marrying traditional, old-world craftsmanship with sturdy timbers from native trees, some as old as the Vikings themselves— respectfully hand picked from Pacific Northwest forests.
A unique and historic replica, Valkyrie is based on the ancient recovered form of ‘Skuldelev 6', a Norwegian-built Viking ship unearthed after one thousand years from the waters of the harbor at Roskilde, Denmark. She is being certified as an inspected passenger vessel by the US Coast Guard for voyages on the Salish Sea and, if Odin will assent to it, possibly lands far beyond. Valkyrie is the first of her kind in the United States!
Throughout Valkyrie’s construction, every effort was made by the shipwright and journeymen to produce a seaworthy vessel of both superior performance and enduring merit. This attention to excellence in an age of fast-paced mass production is rare — matching our mission to create a vessel of hope and goodwill through which our projects will make a positive contribution to our corner of the Salish Sea. The crew of Valkyrie invite you to come aboard, marvel at her beauty, and share with us a memorable journey. All are welcome!
